Camp Behailu

In 2018, we partnered with Charlotte Youth Rowing and Behailu Academy to provide rowing instruction to a dozen first-time rowers from Behailu, a non-profit organization in Charlotte that empowers youth through arts, academic support, and community service.

Because rowing requires access to large bodies of water and expensive equipment, it is not as readily available as some sports. We are eager to partner with other organizations to offer programs to groups or populations that might face barriers to participating in the sport.

During Behailu’s second summer session, participants came to Belmont Rowing Center Monday through Thursday mornings in July to learn sweep rowing in boats of 4 or 8 people.
