Jack & Jill Gastonia-Piedmont

In 2019, 11 teens started indoors on the ergs learning the basics of the rowing stroke and reviewing rowing shells on land before getting out on the water in two 8+s. After a couple of hours learning the stroke, we capped off the session with a few short “races” from buoy to buoy by 4s. We had 5 volunteer seat fillers and 2 coxswains from our Youth team to help Jack & Jill through the steep learning curve that rowing has. Our Masters team volunteered on shore at dock to assist with launching and return recovery.
