Independent Rowing

Independent Rowing is a good option for masters rowers who want to be able to coordinate their own rowing schedule outside of a structured, coached program.

In order to race under BRC’s banner, all athletes need to have a current Independent Rower Pass.

2021 Cost

$205 for 6 months or $410 for one year

Using BRC Equipment

To be an Independent Rower and use BRC’s rowing equipment, you must:

1) Have a current Independent Rower Pass
2) Pass a Flip Test with an approved coach
3) Have a current USRowing waiver
4) Use the Boat Reservation system in iCrew to reserve a date/time for any boat you want to take out (coached programs get equipment priority)

Using Personal/Private Equipment

1) Have a current Independent Rower Pass

3) Have a current USRowing waiver
4) Pay a Private Equipment Storage fee

Regattas

Independent Scullers who want to compete in regattas outside what BRC plans on attending may do so under the BRC name, but they are responsible for informing the Program Manager of their races well in advance of the deadline. Additionally, if they want to use BRC equipment for the regatta, they need to coordinate with the Program Manager.

How to Register

  1. Create your profile in iCrew – select the “Independent Sculling” profile from the registration page.

Payments are processed by PayPal by default, but we can also accept checks at your lesson.
